A Sustainable Event

Since the launch of LPG Week in 2019, ongoing efforts have been made to reduce the event’s environmental impact through various initiatives:

○ Encouraging participants to focus on digital solutions

○ Working with local products

○ Choosing eco responsible venues

○ Managing waste on food and infrastructures

○ Recycling and using circular elements of construction materials

○ Welcoming a diverse multi-disciplinary line up of speakers from different backgrounds and geography

○ Supporting local communities

These are just a few ways by which Liquid Gas Week concretely demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development.

Only by working together can we minimise the event’s impact on the environment and set up a solid framework for sustainable legacy for the future and make a difference.

The sustainability report for Liquid Gas Week serves to transparently showcase our commitment to responsible event practices, highlighting the actions taken to minimise environmental impact, promote social inclusion, and support sustainable development within the Liquid Gas sector. It provides stakeholders with a clear overview of our goals, initiatives, and progress, while also identifying areas for improvement.

Sustainability at heart in 2024

The 2024 LPG Week in Cape Town has also been an opportunity to reflect and act on the event’s legacy towards the local communities. Exchanges with the local communities is one of our foremost priorities.

Some of the initiatives put forward in 2024 included the recycling of badges and lanyards. A total of 280kg of fabric was salvaged and donated which supports the non-profit training programme to skill ladies in sewing. The items created can range from tote bags, pencil cases or picnic blankets.

Improving the sustainability performance of an event implies mobilising all stakeholders across the board. Each of us have a role to play. This is why we have been dedicating many communication efforts to emphasise sustainability matters across multiple channels in the view to maximise reach and engagement.
