SUSTAINABILTY AS LIQUID GAS WEEK’s TRADEMARK

For several years now, Liquid Gas Week has been deploying sustainability initiatives. Each year, at every destination, we implement measures to minimise the event environmental impact, connect with local suppliers and local communities, and ensure that the event is delivered respecting the highest ethical standards.

This year, we will continue and improve by:

  • Focusing on digital solutions, whenever possible
  • Providing tips and best practices to participants to reduce their environmental impact
  • Working with local producers, and enjoying local products
  • Choosing eco-responsible venues and hotels
  • Double-up on waste management, especially food waste, as it impacts the environment, and is a missed opportunity to support local communities in need
  • Implement the “3-Rs” approach: reduce, reuse, recycle… We seek to “eco-plan” the events activities to reduce waste and foster circularity
  • Welcoming a diverse multi-disciplinary line up of speakers from different backgrounds and geography
  • Supporting local communities through cultural, social and charitable activities

These are just a few ways by which Liquid Gas Week concretely takes responsibility and demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development.

Sustainability at heart

Liquid Gas Week events are an opportunity to reflect and act on the event’s legacy towards the local communities. Exchanges with the local communities is one of our foremost priorities.

Some of the initiatives put forward in 2025 included the recycling of badges and lanyards. A total of 280kg of fabric was salvaged and donated which supports the non-profit training programme to skill ladies in sewing. The items created can range from tote bags, pencil cases or picnic blankets.

Improving the sustainability performance of an event implies mobilising all stakeholders across the board. Each of us have a role to play. This is why we have been dedicating many communication efforts to emphasise sustainability matters across multiple channels in the view to maximise reach and engagement.

The Education Volunteers Foundation of Türkiye (TEGV) was established in 1995 by a group of academics, business leaders, and professionals who believe that education is the foundation of a better future for both Türkiye and the world. The foundation was created to support the basic education provided by the state. Since its establishment, TEGV has provided free, high-quality education support to more than 3.3 million children, with the help of over 100,000 volunteers. TEGV’s activities cover a wide range of fields, including mathematics, science, information technologies, arts, reading, and English, among many others. These activities go beyond academic learning and also support children’s physical, social, and emotional development.
