More Information About Carbon Emission Calculations
Carbon emission calculations are conducted based on the ICAO Carbon Emissions Calculator methodology, taking into account parameters such as flight distance, cabin class, the operational frequency of aircraft types on the respective route, passenger load factors, and passenger-to-cargo payload distribution.
The difference observed between Economy and Business classes results from the weighting factor used within the ICAO methodology, which allocates emissions per passenger based on the physical space occupied by each cabin class (considering seat pitch and width).
The value shown represents the estimated amount of carbon emissions calculated based on the flight information entered. The contribution amount may vary depending on the selected project portfolio. Therefore, different contribution amounts may be displayed for the same level of emissions across different portfolios. The contribution provided does not directly reduce the emissions of the relevant flight; it is allocated to projects that support climate change mitigation and social development.

However, considering the detailed and reliable sustainability reports from Cape Town (2024) and Rio de Janeiro (2025) and the evolving expectations from stakeholders, including the general public, it’s clear that we need to take this to the next level.
In 2025 the CO2 emissions reached an average of 2 tons per participant. The projections for this year in Istanbul are 1.9 tons of CO2 per participant..
The event’s objective is to be net-zero by 2030 for our own emissions – e.g. emissions generated by our own staff.
… and this commitment starts today, as we will gradually start offsetting the emissions of staff and working partners. Step by step, year by year, we are operating a shift in our habits and ways of thinking.
Many delegates and participants are conscient of the CO2 impact of travel and are already taking action.
This year, we have set a target of 10% for Liquid Gas Week 2026, and we invite you all to join us in this call to action.
